  1. This is France’s premier high-speed rail route. A journey which used to take the best part of a day can now be completed in a morning.

    The route cuts south-east from Paris through the chalklands of the Île de France, skirting Burgundy and crossing the River Rhône east of Lyon. Almost before you know it, your train is in Provence. The last half hour of the journey has great views of the landscapes celebrated in the paintings of Cézanne.
