Today, we're pleased to announce that Loco2 has been acquired by Voyages-sncf.com, our long-term partner in European rail.
The investment will accelerate the development of our powerful search and booking technology in the UK and Europe, and solidify Voyages-sncf.com's position as the key player in online European rail ticketing.
Loco2 will continue to operate as an independent company, but joining the Voyages-sncf.com Group puts us closer to the heart of European rail. It’s the logical next step for our team and technology. We’re excited about this new chapter in the Loco2 story and the massive potential in the combination of Voyages-sncf.com’s industry expertise and our ambition to simplify rail booking. We think we will be a formidable force!
We operate in a fast-changing market, and have confronted inevitable bumps in the road as we’ve grown. We’re confident that this is the right decision for the business and the best way to supercharge Loco2’s technology, while maintaining our obsession with customer satisfaction.
We’ve always seen the train operators and distributors as our allies, so we’re thrilled to partner with Voyages-sncf.com, who share our passion for rail.
The acquisition will bring new technology and talent to the Voyages-sncf.com Group, with Loco2 set to work alongside their other brands. And Jamie and I will stay on to continue developing the Loco2 product, building on our simple, fast solution for booking European travel online via our website and mobile apps.
Franck Gervais, General Manager of the Voyages-sncf.com Group, said:
“We are excited to welcome Loco2 and their great potential to the Group. Our aim is to accelerate our international growth and the investment in Loco2 brings new capabilities as part of our development and new projects for the UK and European markets. Through this investment we are offering Loco2 the perfect environment to further grow and enable Kate and Jamie Andrews, the two co-founders to continue writing their story.”
It’s been almost a decade since we dreamt up the idea for Loco2, so we are thrilled that we have been able to put our business on track to become a major player in the industry. Above all, we’re glad to have found the perfect partner - the first distributor to grant us a contract to sell tickets, in 2012 - to help us grow our technology, one that shares our passion for rail and customer-centric approach.
The Voyages-sncf.com Group is a subsidiary of the French National Railway Company, SNCF. The Group is a major player in tourism in Europe, known internationally through its Rail Europe brand, owned by SNCF and the Swiss Railways (SBB).
