High-speed Eurostar services transformed Britain’s relationship with its near neighbours when it launched in 1994.. Eurostar specialises in speedy travel, air-conditioned comfort, easy check-in andultra-reliable trains that travel through the Channel Tunnel to Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris. Going on a city break has never been easier. Seat reservation is obligatory and included in the price of your ticket.
Some two dozen trains leave London St Pancras every day bound for France and Belgium. Several services also stop at Ashford International and Ebbsfleet International in Kent. UK. The most popular route, between London and Paris, runs every day of the week except 25 December. In April 2018, Eurostar introduced a service between London, Rotterdam and Amsterdam, with two services a day each way on weekdays and one each day over the weekend. . From June 2019, this will move up to three trains per day during the week and two on both Saturday and Sunday. If you are travelling from Amsterdam to London, you have to disembark in Brussels for passport control, and then board the Eurostar to finish your journey. Eurostar also operates year-round services to Lyon, Avignon, Marseille and the EuroDisney resort at Marne la Vallée-Chessy. There are winter weekend services to the snowy Tarentaise region in the French Alps. Most Eurostar trains from London to Brussels also stop at Lille Europe, where travellers can easily connect onto the French TGV network. Some Brussels-bound services also stop at Calais.
Most Eurostar trains offer three classes of service – but trains to Lyon, Avignon, Marseille, and the EuroDisney resort, as well as seasonal services from London to the French Alps, have just two classes: Standard and Standard Premier. There is airline-style check-in with passport control and security screening of your luggage at the Eurostar terminal at your station of departure. You need to label your luggage and arrive well before departure time. Onboard, you’ll find a sleek and efficient service. Every Eurostar train has two on-board cafés. The first of a new generation of Eurostar trains were introduced in late 2015. They offer power sockets at every seat in every class as well as free wifi onboard, as do the refurbished carriages of Eurostar’s classic trains.

Seating and sleeping on Eurostar
Standard Class seating on Eurostar trains is in open-plan carriages with pairs of airline-style seats on both sides of the central aisle and a small number of four seats around tables. There is ample luggage space in the racks at the end of each carriage and above seats. Legroom is adequate rather than spacious. On Eurostar’s classic Standard Class carriages, only coaches 5 and 14 have power sockets at every seat.
Food and drink on Eurostar
Café / Buffet
Every passenger has access to Eurostar’s buffet carriages regardless of the class of travel. Expect sandwiches, hot and cold snacks and drinks, salads and desserts. Beer and wine can also be purchased. On Eurostar’s new and refurbished trains, the Café Métropole has received a sleeker design and improved layout.
