There are several options for travelling to Avignon by train from London, Paris, Lille and Brussels. The most popular route is the TGV from Paris to Avignon, which departs frequently every day with a total journey time of under 3 hours.

The city is equipped with two TGV stations, Avignon-Centre and Avignon TGV, making Avignon an ideal hub for travel within France. Direct trains depart the city for Nimes, Marseille and Lyon. It is possible to travel to Avignon from Brussels and Geneva directly, and from Amsterdam with a single change.

During the summer months, it is possible to travel from London to Avignon by Eurostar direct; at other times of the year, simply change trains in Paris. Read our Avignon by train booking guides for more detail or search above for trains to Avignon from other destinations.

CIV protection

UK train tickets to "London St Pancras International CIV" offer an extra level of protection for international train journeys.

These special fares, authorised by National Rail, ensure that your entire journey will be protected under international conditions of carriage.

This means that if your UK train is delayed you'll be guaranteed a place on the next available Eurostar and onward trains to your destination at no extra charge.

Tickets to "London St Pancras International CIV" also include travel on the London Underground (if necessary) to London St Pancras.

CIV fares are priced differently to normal tickets, and are only valid with proof of an onward Eurostar ticket.

Prices are usually slightly more expensive than non-CIV tickets for the same route, though they can sometimes be cheaper, especially during peak times.
