Prices explained

At Loco2 we believe in price transparency. We use real data from Loco2 searches to estimate the cheapest fares you should be able to find for your journey.

The cheapest price is the lowest fare we've ever found for this journey. These prices can usually be found by searching when booking opens but they vary due to availability, which depends on factors like the day of the week or time of year.

More popular journeys include 30 day advance and 7 day advance prices. These are updated every two weeks using prices we've found by searching exactly 7 or 30 days from the most recent Thursday (we picked Thursday because this is when average prices are usually found).

30 day and 7 day prices fluctuate based on demand and availability at the time of search. For example, the 7-day price in summer is likely to be more expensive than the same journey in winter.

Prices are sourced in GBP and converted to other currencies using the daily market exchange rate.

We're always seeking to improve how price-checking works, and we welcome feedback on how we can make it better.

More advice about how to find the cheapest tickets can be found in our infographic.

  1. As Toulouse is still remote from France’s main high-speed rail network, travel times from Paris to Toulouse are longer than you might expect. That’ll change in due course, but until it does there’s still a strong market for overnight travel between the two cities.

The direct Intercités de Nuit train normally leaves Paris between ten and eleven in the evening. Tickets for the night train from Paris to Toulouse usually go on sale between two and three months prior to the date of travel.

If the idea of an overnight train journey doesn’t appeal, don’t worry. You have plenty of daytime options too. There are several daytime TGVs from Paris Montparnasse to Toulouse, taking 5 hrs 30 mins. And there are also Intercités services which leave from Paris Austerlitz and take up to seven hours.

    Paris to Toulouse (night train)

The night train to Toulouse leaves from Paris Austerlitz station. Like all domestic overnight services within France, this train does not have sleeping cars. But it does offer a choice of reclining seats, six-berth couchettes and four-berth couchettes. For a reasonable night’s sleep we strongly recommend opting for couchette accommodation.

The night train makes a brief stop at Les-Aubrais-Orléans to pick up passengers bound for south-west France. It then travels for some hours before making a couple of stops to set down passengers prior to arriving in Matabiau station in Toulouse in the morning. From Toulouse Matabiau there are excellent onward connections to destinations across south-west France.
