It is an easy cross-border hop by train from Amsterdam to Düsseldorf. The route runs south-east from Amsterdam and then follows the Rhine Valley upstream across the German border. With a choice of six to eight direct trains each day (depending on the day of the week), you’ll normally find a train to suit your schedule. The journey takes just over two hours.

Amsterdam to Düsseldorf
The direct trains to Düsseldorf all leave from Amsterdam Centraal station. Most of the trains on this route are ICE services operated jointly by the Dutch and German rail administrations. In addition to the ICEs, you’ll also find an occasional German Intercity train plying the route. Trains make three or four stops along the way. In Düsseldorf you’ll arrive at the city’s Hauptbahnhof just east of the city centre.
