Ooh la la, cheap French train tickets

31 March 2016

The second summer sale for rail travel in France opens today, with tickets available for travel up to 28 August.

The summer sale for rail travel within France opens this Thursday 31 March, for departures between 1 July and 28 August 2016.

After the first wave of French summer train ticket sales opened earlier in the year, it is now possible to book cheap TGV train tickets for the whole of France up to 28 August. We've picked a few fares to give you a taste...

  • Connect from London to the vineyards of Bordeaux by train, a journey of 7 hours. Tickets from £54 one-way in Standard Class.
  • Travel from London to Annecy by train to discover the excellent Alpine hiking and beautiful Lac d’Annecy in just 7 hours. Tickets from £63 one-way Standard Class.
  • Arrive by train from London to La Rochelle, the popular seaside town, in just 7 hours, and visit the picturesque island of Ré while you're there. Standard Class tickets start at £63 one-way.

A few weeks ago, summertime bookings for international TGVs opened, so if you're looking for train tickets from Paris to Milan, Paris to Barcelona or Paris to Geneva these are already available to book up to 28 August as well, and there are still plenty of tickets left.

For other times of the year, booking in advance is the best way to save money on your train tickets. Take a look at our guide to finding cheap train tickets to help you find the best deals.

We'll be delivering booking reminders as soon as tickets come online. And, as always, the team is available to answer any questions.
