Introducing Loco2 for Android

Following the recent launch of our iPhone app, Loco2 is now available on Android too!

We launched our first smartphone app in April. "Finally", said the internet. So to keep momentum, we smashed out the Android version as quickly as possible! It's available today from Google Play and the Amazon Appstore

The Android app has the same sweet features as our iPhone app, including powerful search functionality through our clean, simple interface, and mobile tickets for thousands of routes. It's free to download and, as always, there are no booking fees for buying train tickets in the UK or across Europe.

We've worked hard to deliver the Android version of our app, and we're excited to share it with you!



What took us so long? 

Glad you asked.

For a long time we were focused on plugging more rail operators into Loco2, adding tickets from France, Germany, the UK, Spain and Italy over several years. This investment in our foundations was necessary to fulfil our pan-European rail ambition. 

Before now, we've strived to have an excellent mobile site, ensuring that the user experience rivalled desktop, without the need to install an app. We know that smartphone memory is at a premium, so we held off developing native applications until we were sure that an app would be genuinely useful.  


Since we don't charge booking fees, many more people are now using Loco2 to book short trips in their home country 


We've seen demand for mobile soar as many more people have started using Loco2 to book trains in their home country, as well as for international journeys. Short trips are better suited to apps, and since we don't charge a booking fee we expect this trend to continue.

With more rail operators offering mobile tickets and the exciting potential of realtime data (coming soon), the logic for developing an app was clear.

What's next?

Now that we have applications for both iOS and Android, we'll be developing them in tandem with further improvements to our websites (both desktop and mobile).
