Trains to France
A citizen of the world, France remains a European favourite. And with world class cuisine, bold heritage and the rich panoramas of an ever-changing landscape, it's little wonder. Tout arrive en France! More
Those expecting an abundance of Breton stripes, baguettes and berets are likely to be disappointed by France. But some of the more favourable preconceptions do stand up to scrutiny: culture by the bucketload, style by the bagful (Chanel, naturally) and an indefinable je ne sais quoi that comes from prioritising good living and a lighthearted attitude.
France is endlessly diverse. The jagged coastline of Brittany contrasts with the ritzy resorts and glamour of the Côte d'Azur. The fairytale forests and châteaux of the Loire Valley reminisce of legends past, and fragrant lavender in Provence inspire calm. All impart something of the instinctive joie de vivre for which France is famed. There's no better way to appreciate all this than from the comfort of your window seat.
A journey by train through France is testament to this dramatic diversity. And thanks to some very clever engineering, we are blessed with the Eurostar rail link to the continent. Though it’s easy to be tempted further afield, there is much to appreciate right on your doorstep. The sleek SNCF fleet serves all corners of France’s 26 regions with many provincial towns boasting their own station. TGV has also extended its reach offering high-speed services to many of the country’s major cities in record time.
