I found an ideal train from Zurich to Switzerland, just over 5 hours.. But couldn't book it with Loco2... So went to www.oebb.at and booked it there, €89 for first class!

So I can go straight from meetings in Zurich to join the family skiing and get all my emails cleared on the way..

Thanks for finding me the best route (Rail Europe didn't even show me the schedule because it was less than 7 days out and they couldn't get me a ticket in time! But OBB did an eticket so I can print it at home..

I think he means from Zurich to Salzburg.. So I am stuck on Easyjet with the bags and the kids... Nice one Shay

Still. It's a whole lot cheaper and less carbon than the air alternative...

Quick coffee at Zurich station and jump on the train - typical Swiss efficiency and we're off to Salzburg. Stunning views over the lake whilst sitting in a seat you would die for on sleazy jet. Thank god for trains

Amusingly my wife and I both started our journey at the same time. Me from a hotel in Zurich and her from home in London. Whilst she is flying we are nearly 2 hours in and she hasn't taken off yet. A very real chance I'll beat her, be more relaxed, had better views etc etc

Fabulous journey and great views. Only annoyance being the young lovers opposite being way to happy and all over each other... Jealous not me surely Ps annoying efficiency as we arrive on time to the minute - british railways watch out

And on Swiss punctuality, I found out the other day that the Swiss Railway clocks are synchronised nationwide, and actually stop for 1.5 seconds are the top of every minute to make sure they're all running to the same time!
