Christmas is coming and it's time for some train-tastic Loco2 giveaways!
Despite attempts to keep it at bay, now that it’s almost December, Christmas is just around the corner. We now feel we can legitimately get excited about upcoming festivities! And what better way to get into the spirit of giving than by giving away a bundle of exciting train themed prizes.
Loco2 is pleased to introduce our totally traintastic “12 days of Christmas competition” which will run for 12 days, beginning on December 3rd. Now before you say anything, we know these aren’t the actual 12 days of Christmas (which run from Christmas day until January 2nd) but it is 12 days, and it is near to Christmas so we hope you’ll join in all the same…
You’re invited to try your luck, test your knowledge and be part of the fun. We’ll pose a new train related question, conundrum or challenge, giving you at least one chance to win a prize everyday, sometimes more. They’ll be something different on each day, and fantastic prizes to boot, but you have to be in it to win it. Watch this space, and be in with a chance of getting your hands on our bag of pressies. You can follow our 12 days near Christmas competition here on the blog, Twitter and Facebook, so keep an eye on your social media of choice! You can subscribe, follow or like at the top of this page!
At the end of the 12 days we’ll review all the entries and notify the winners. Creative challenges will be judged by yours truly (and the rest of the Loco2 team) while the easy-peasy ones will be decided via the ultra-scientific ‘names out of a hat’ technique. And if that’s not enough excitement for 12 days, we’ll throw in some Loco2 merchandise too, including our coveted Loco2 mugs, as modelled by Kate.
This competition is now closed. Come back in January 2013 for more chances to win great prizes.
Non-Facebook users can subscribe to the Loco2 blog to receive a daily update about how to enter each day.
To get you in the mood, check out the prizes we have up for grabs and find out about the people that have made Loco2′s Christmas extra special with their kind donations:
1. Recycle Train Set by Green Gift Monster
If Loco2 were a toy it would be the Recycle Train Set, and boy do we wish we were one of these! The Recycle Train Set does exactly what it says on the (recycled) box, turning waste paper into pieces of track on which run a small electric train, also included. For more eco gadgets with a dash of novelty, head over to Green Gift Monster website. And you know what? We have a sweet promotional code to give all entrants a tenth (that’s 10% for those who don’t like fractions!) off Green Gift Monster products, it’s a win-win! Win this on day 1!

2. Green is the New Black tee by Rapanui
At Loco2 we’re dreaming of a green Christmas. To help us off to a sartorial start, Rapanui have kindly donated a Green is the New Black t-shirt, rather fetching we’re sure you’ll agree. We reckon the lovely inhabitants of Shoreditch, which Loco2 calls home, will be green with envy. We’ve also got a magical code to use at checkout to give a 20% discount off any goodies purchased through the Rapanui site (we’ll notify all entrants on day 2 of the secret password, you lucky things). Win this on day 2!Follow @rapanuiclothing

3. Change the world for a fiver & Action notebook by We Are What We Do
We are What We Do are a fab organisation that make behaviour change fun. They are the geniuses (should that be genii?) behind campaigns like “I am not a plastic bag”, HistoryPin and Change the World for a Fiver, a copy of which is up for grabs. You’ll also get a bonus notebook with simple positive actions like “Learn One good joke”. “Layer up” and “use both sides of the paper”. Win these on day 3! Follow @WeAreWhatWeDo

5. 5 pairs of Glove Love by Do the Green Thing
We have nothing but love for Do the Green Thing, whose extraordinary creativity inspire you to lead greener lives. This year they’ll save hundreds of lonesome, solitary gloves from seeing out their winter in a gutter. Whether they’ve lost their partner on public transport, or in lost property offices across the country, thanks to DTGT’s Glove Love drive, these lost souls will be united, spruced up and made ready to fulfil their five-fingered destiny once more. And you can be the proud of owner of one of 5 pairs of Glove Love goodies. Win a pair on day 6! Follow @Dothegreenthing

6. Brio style Breakfast set and Salt and Pepper express by Neue Freunde
Neue Freunde is Frankfurt based duo, Carsten Rosenbohm and Christopher Fellehner, who spend their time designing and making toys and lifestyle products. The Breakfast Set is their best-selling design, and was inspired by Carsten’s son Bruno, whose desire to play with his train set extended into breakfast time. It connects to regular Brio train set, so perhaps the Loco2 dream of having our coffee delivered by train isn’t as far off as we thought! Win these on day 5!
7. Gingerbread train kit by Sarah Biscuits
An edible train kit? Yes, you heard right! Much as we love a good train ride, a 3 dimensional train made entirely from gingerbread is the stuff of fairytales. Our train cake was a smash hit back in October so we know you’ll be desperate to get your hands on this tasty tanker. You can win one on day 7 of our giveaway, and if you miss out then head over to the Sarah Biscuits website for a feast of gingerbread assembly kits. Win this on day 7!

8. Advent train by Bisquites
We hope you’ll agree that the best advent calendars are entirely edible. Count down to Christmas with the yummy morsels of shortbread in this beautifully decorated Advent Train from Bisquites, complete with biscuit smoke. Unfortunately with our competition beginning on the 3rd December it won’t make it to you in time for the start of Advent, but who likes waiting to open calendars anyway? Go loco and eat it all in one sitting. Check out the full Bisquites Christmas biscuit collection here. Win it on day 8! Follow @bisquites

9. You’re just my ticket print & Full Steam Ahead notebook by 2 Little Boys
In 1926, Two Little Boys‘ Great Great Uncle Reg sent out rail ticket Christmas cards to friends inscribed with a little poem penned especially for them, wishing them a pleasant journey on the Railway of Life. Decades later this lovely story inspired Sarah Watts to create these design-led gifts for 2 Little Boys. We have a “You’re just my ticket” print and ” Full Steam Ahead” notebook to give away, great for lovers of train wordplay such as ourselves. Win this on day 9! Follow @2littleboyscom

10. Train ticket bunting by Nellie & Elsie
We were tempted to keep this for the Loco2 Christmas tree, but we couldn’t deny you the chance of winning. Nellie and Elsie is the brainchild of Jessica Sharp, whose work, as she so nicely puts it herself, is “handmade in Britain with style”. Of course, train buffs that we are, our favourite thing is her train ticket bunting which recycles old train tickets into this rather fetching decoration. But don’t take our word for it, check it out for yourself. Win this on day 10! Follow @nellieandelsie

11. An ALLOTINABOX® by Grow Your Own ALLOTINABOX®
What you might not know about the Loco2 team is that as well as loving our travel low-carbon we like our fruit and veg loco too. Just as well the ALLOTINABOX® (allotment in a box!) came along and made kitchen gardening simple for urbanites like us! We have one box to give away so if you’re green fingered and love a few greens, this is the day to look out for. Win this on day 11! Follow @ALLOTINABOX

12. £50 voucher for FARM: Shop by Something & Son
